DIY: Ford Keyless Remote Battery Replacement & Disassembly

Tools/Supplies Needed:

• lithium battery model number CR2032
• standard (flat) screwdriver or a thin coin

Procedure:

• first remove the key ring from the keyless remote
• using a standard screwdriver or a thin coin, pop the case open
• once the case has been split apart on the one side, use your finger nails to assist in the rest of the disassembly
• once open, you'll then have access to the battery
• a replacement battery is a lithium battery model number CR2032
• if your case is damaged, it can also be replaced
• to remove the buttons and circuit board, it just simply slides out of the case
• then pop out the circuit board from the rubber button pad
• replacement buttons can also be purchased as well
• assembly in reverse

My keyless entry won't work after I replaced the battery, why is that?

Try reprogramming the remote. Please refer to the steps below on how that is done.

Programming Procedure

1. Close all doors in the vehicle, then open your driver's door and press the unlock button on the driver's door while it is still open.
2. Turn the ignition to the run position eight times within 10 seconds, with the 8th time ending in run. The door locks will lock and then unlock to confirm that you have entered programming mode.
3. Within eight seconds press any button on the non working keyless remote to be programmed. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming has been entereed correctly. If you only have one remote then skip to step five.
4. Within eight seconds, press any button on the second keyless remote. Door locks will then cycle again to confirm programming has been entereed correctly. Repeat step four for all other remotes.
5. Turn ignition off or wait 20 seconds to end the programming mode. Locks will again cycle to indicate that you have ended the programming mode.
