Video tutorial on how to accurately read a dial vernier caliper and also the basic maintenance ownership of a dial vernier caliper. The dial vernier caliper is a precise measuring device that is about to have an accuracy to a thousandth of an inch and should always be handled with care in order to ensure it's accuracy and keep it functioning properly. They are also available in a variety of lengths too. The dial vernier caliper uses both a dial indicator and vernier (measuring scale) together in order to determine the measurement. A caliper is able to measure an outer dimension, inner dimension, and a depth dimension. This particular tutorial was done using an imperial/standard measuring units.
