Review: Plasti Dipped Wheels

Overall I would say the wheels have held up excellently, there isn't any bubbling, stone chips, scuffing on the surface, or pealing. There has been a couple small scratches on the inside of the lip for some odd reason, I'm assuming that make have been from maybe ice flying up on the road. And even thought I was extremely careful installed and removing the lug studs, they have done some mild coating scratches in the mounting holes. As for touch ups, you can respray over the scratches or chipped areas, but if that damaged area had a thicker coating, you may see an outline of it. If you have any excessive surface damage in the wheels you are covering, the plasti dip may camouflage some of it, but not all, again that depends on the severity of the surface damage. I have noticed with these particular wheels that they did have some chipping in the existing painted surface and some has shown through. Now for about a week, the freshly painted plasti dip will have somewhat of a sticky rubber coating, once full cured, it is smooth to the touch. As for the center caps, I did remove them when applying the coating and they were snapped back in once the plasti dip fully cured and they didn't damage the surface around the cap either.

The pealed transition between the tire and the wheel, I didn't use any masking methods. The plasti dip does come off fairly easy from he tire's surface, the thicker the coating, the easier it will be to peal off. To my amazement, it does leave a very clean edge between the tire and wheel as well.

Video review on how well the plasti dipped wheels have held up for me so far. The plasti dip was applied to my winter set of wheels and I have roughly done about 5000km or 3000 miles while these were on my car for a time period of 6 months. They were exposed to temperatures as warm as 10 degrees celsius or 50 degrees fahrenheit and as cold as 35 degrees celsius or 95 degrees fahrenheit. I've only applied satin black, about one can per wheel, 16" diameter on both sides of the wheels, no glossifier, and the access amount of plasti dip pulled off the tires so no masking off.
