DIY: How to Change the Oil in a Snowblower

Difficulty Level

Tools/Supplies Needed:

• wrench or ratchet set
• socket set
• drain pan
• blocks or a jack
• funnel
• oil

Procedure:

• start up the engine on the snowblower
• allow the engine to warm up as this allows the oil to flow more smoothly from the engine when draining
• then turn off when it has reached it's operating temperature
• determine where the drain plug is
• raise up snowblower so your drain pan can fit under the drain location
• remove oil drain plug and allow it to fully drain
• locate fill plug and loosen to it allows to oil to flow quicker when draining
• once done draining, reinstall plug and tighten
• remove fill plug and add oil
• when filling, check to ensure the oil level it at the appropriate level
• reinstall fill plug once done, check for leaks
• start engine, allow it to warm up and inspect for leaks again
• turn engine off
• allow it to cool down and then recheck oil level
