Difficulty Level
Tools/Supplies Needed:
• wet/dry vacuum
• soft brush (not required)
• carpet shampoo (used in the video is Spray Nine Multi Purpose Cleaner)
• pressure washer
Procedure:
• remove the floor mats or trunk liner from your vehicle
• first start by vacuuming any loose debris which will make the cleaning process much easier
• empty the vacuum if you are worried about separating the dry debris/dirt and water afterwards
• spray the floor mats or trunk liner down with the carpet shampoo
• allow the carpet shampoo to soak in for a few minutes, giving it time to bit into any stains
• start your pressure washer, use a large fan spray which will reduce the risk of damaging the carpet and help push any imbedded debris/dirt from the carpet
• if you have a tougher stain, you can apply more carpet shampoo and lightly agitate the area with a soft brush, but for almost all stains I have encountered, this isn't needed
• continuously run back and forth fan spray with the pressure washer, pushing the dirt and soap out of the material
• eventually you will notice the dirt disappearing from the access water, along with the soap
• ensure all the dirt and soap has been removed
• rinse the underside of the floor mat or trunk liner as well to ensure there is no soap or debris/dirt stuck on the underside
• now using a wet/dry compatible vacuum only, vacuum the saturated floor mat or trunk liner, removing a majority of it
• depending on the material, the fibres may fluff up in one direction or another helping dry the surface
• finally hang up the floor mats or trunk liner in the sun and allow it to dry
• then reinstall back into the vehicle
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
Can I put my floor mats in the dryer?
I haven't done this myself, but some of my viewers have experimented with this and have been sucessful with drying their floor mats. I would recommend not having it set on the highest heat range so you do not risk the chance of damaged the mats.
