Tools/Supplies Needed:
• lithium battery model number CR2032
• small phillips screwdriver
Procedure:
• work in an area you do not risk the chance of losing any small parts
• first start by removing the screws on the backside of the keyless entry remote
• there will be two in total
• now pull open the case which will expose the internals
• the battery simply slides out of its location
• a replacement battery is a lithium battery model number CR2032
• to remove the circuit board, remove the three phillips screws using the screwdriver
• pull the circuit board out using the battery holder
• simply pull the rubber pad out
• finally the buttons just sit loosely into the housing
• reassembly in reverse of disassembly

My keyless entry won't work after I replaced the battery, why is that?
Try reprogramming the remote. Please refer to the steps below on how that is done.
Programming Procedure
1. First ensure you are away from all other Subaru vehicles so the vehicle does not accidentally learn an unwanted keyless entry.
2. Open the driver's door.
2. Turn the the ignition to the on position.
3. Press and hold the emergency override button after approximately 15 seconds, which should be followed by a chirp three times. This will demonstrate that you are in programming mode. Do not release the emergency override button.
4. Press the lock button on the new keyless entry remote. Once the remote is programmed, this will be follows by a single chirp.
5. Repeat step four for additional keyless entry remotes.
6. To exit the programming sequence, release the emergency override button and turning the ignition off. Once finished, test remotes to ensure they are working correctly.
